It looks like CNBC's sports reporter Darren Rovell finally scored a Valentine from one of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition girls.

Model Chrissy Teigen, the fiancee of John Legend, sent this to Rovell today. [via @darrenrovell

"To Darren! If you like me, tweet "A" for yes, "B" for no. xxxx Chrissy Teigen"

We haven't seen a response from Rovell's Twitter account yet.

In case you missed it, Rovell asked this year's curvy covergirl Kate Upton to be his Valentine on CNBC earlier this afternoon.

"I definitely want the chocolate, but there's a little bit of a waiting list," Upton responded.

"I have a fryer on both coasts," she tells me solemnly, her eyes twinkling. "I really couldn't live without them."

Deep within the elegant bowels of New York's famed International Culinary Center (home of L'Ecole, the restaurant of the French Culinary Institute), Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen is getting primped and prepped for her big kitchen debut while discussing the finer points of fried junk food. The petite bundle of energy seems unaware of her own beauty, completely swept up in the excitement of a highly choreographed shoot filled with epicurean surprises and the potential for a long-awaited foray into culinary super stardom.

Click here to see Chrissy Teigen in the kitchen >>

At 26, Teigen is probably most famous for her bikini-baring spreads, high-wattage relationship (she's engaged to singer John Legend) and her goofy sense of humor. A Twitter darling in her own right, this Utah native turned pin-up girl isn't afraid to tweet the ridiculous ("He went to Jared" was her cheeky response following news of her engagement), but at the heart of it all is a serious love affair with eating and cooking that stretches back to her teen years.

"I always wanted to go to culinary school," the bubbly brunette explains. "But then my father took a look at the price. After that, I let my interest die down a little bit. It wasn't until I was in a position to really appreciate the time and dedication it takes to commit to it as career that I started rethinking my future."

Teigen candidly admits that modeling was never her ultimate goal, but having the opportunity to travel and meet many a food legend along the way only continued to peak her culinary appetite. "That was my dream. [John and I] get to do all sorts of fun, amazing red carpets and stuff, but he senses that I really shut down.  But I get so nervous when I get brought back to meet a chef -- more so than Beyoncé or someone like that."

The hustle and bustle of a busy kitchen and being in the presence of such talent made her realize that she needed to be a part of that world -- hence the launch of her popular food blog, So Delushious.  Food porn at its most pure with the literature to back it up, Teigen's online musing provide a glossy image of her world travels as well as recipes and personal anecdotes. Naturally, she's had her share of strange food throughout her adventures.

"My mom is Thai, and loves to take us to those night bazaars in Thailand, and I've had fried ant salad there before," she offers nonchalantly. The look of disgust on my face quickly leads to a peal of laughter.  "It doesn't really taste like anything," Teigen insists as her smile widens.  "It's just like crunchy protein."

Fearless food consumption may seem contradictory to her day job, but as I quickly learn, not all models prefer to subsist on a steady diet of cigarettes and champagne. "A lot of girls you see on the runway, they don't really have a passion [for eating]," she clarifies. "But the ones of us who have it, we're pretty proud of it and we love it. Genevieve Morton, one of my fellow Sports Illustrated girls, also loves food and loves to cook. But we're lucky because we're of a different breed. We get to eat and not feel ashamed about it because a little extra curve is good for us."

If curves are good, then so is a down-to-earth attitude and lack of guile. Teigen is the kind of on-screen personality that has no problem making fun of herself if it makes you laugh OR makes for good television in the process.  Following a special on the Cooking Channel called Cookies & Cocktails this past December, I can safely say that even after a mere hour that it's clear that it works. Although she has certainly dabbled in some of the priciest haute cuisine the world has to offer, this is one girl that's totally relatable. "A lot of times you look at people and think, 'They must never fail!' Ina [Garten] and Giada [De Laurentiis] are perfect," she exclaims. "But I'm the kind of person that posts picture on my blog when I mess up."

While rumors continue to swirl that Teigen is quite possibly being groomed for a long-term TV project, right now all this culinary star-in-the-making can think about is her impending wedding. She squirms in her seat at the mention of the word "fiancé," turning a pretty shade of pink when teased about her sudden loss for words. "It's too new," she protests as she rolls her eyes. "I'm not giving up 'boyfriend' yet!"

Not surprisingly, when talk of the wedding menu arises, she immediately perks up as suggestions are tossed around about food and (more importantly) drinks.  "I want everybody drunk," she deadpans. "A cocktail session before the ceremony, and in between the ceremony and reception as well."

In Chrissy Teigen's world, humor is a key ingredient to her recipe for her success. But ultimately the road ahead will need to be filled with delicious mix of food, fun, learning and love to make it a truly worthwhile proposition for both her and her fans alike.

Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton appeared on the Dan Patrick Show this morning, revealing a previously unknown nugget about Tim Tebow.

Apparently Tebow wasn't all that thrilled at the thought of being photographed with a couple of bikini models.

Here's what DP Show producer Paul Pabst tweeted:

Tim Tebow didn't want picture with Kate Upton, Chrissy Teigen

But as you may recall, Tebow did pose for a picture with the two ladies:

Seeing as he was still able to preach to a crowd of 15,000 on Easter Sunday a few months later, we don't think it really hurt his image at all.

Chrissy Teigen Has Scathing Remarks For Forever 21 After They Once Fired Her For Being 'Too Fat'

sports illustrated 2014 chrissy teigen

Model Chrissy Teigen may have gotten the coveted cover of this year's Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition, but there was a time when not everyone wanted to hire the 28-year-old Mrs. John Legend.

In a new video interview accompanying her July cover of DuJour magazine, Teigen reveals she "hates" retailer Forever 21 for once firing her in the middle of a shoot "for being too fat."

Here's how the incident went down:

"I actually was fired from a job ... Forever 21. They booked me directly when I was much younger. I showed up on set and they asked me if they could take a photo and they shot that photo off to my agency, who then calls me as I'm sitting in the makeup chair. And they say, 'You need to leave right now. They just said you are fat and you need to come get your measurements taken.'

So I hate you, Forever 21. Hate you so much, honestly you're the worst."

Watch Teigen tell the story in her own words below (:30):

It's not the first time the model has called out the retailer.

In 2012, she tweeted:

It's a good thing Teigen says she doesn't take modeling that seriously.

"I am paid a good amount of money to not blink for 12 hours," Teigen joked on "Late Night" this week, telling host Seth Meyers: "It's fun, but I don't take it very seriously."

As DuJour magazine notes in their interview about Teigen's modelesque looks, "What’s far more fascinating is the 28-year-old’s irreverent personality and her penchant for speaking her mind regardless of the consequences."

In the interview, Teigen — a prolific tweeter — talks everything from how she checks Twitter "every 90 seconds" to Instagram "ruining relationships that are already in the shitter."

As one could imagine, Teigen told Seth Meyers of her addiction to social media: "My agency definitely is not so keen on it all the time. Well, just being a model you're not supposed to speak ever, really."

Forever 21 has not responded to our request for comment.

chrissy teigen leaning on a barAfter reports came in that there had been a shooting in Ottawa, Canada, on Wednesday at the Canadian Parliament, Sports Illustrated cover girl Chrissy Teigen tweeted the following:

What was supposed to be a sharp political comment on the paucity of gun-control laws in America was deemed insensitive by Teigen's followers — particularly those in Canada.

Teigen, sensing that not many people understood her commentary, first predicted an attack by Twitchy, the microblog platform started by right-wing pundit Michelle Malkin. Then she tried to clear the air, but she pointedly did not apologize.

But some remained unconvinced.

Model Chrissy Teigen gave a great explanation for why she posted a photo of her stretch marks

Most people are accustomed to seeing Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen look flawless in the pages of magazines like this:

Chrissy TeigenBut Teigen drew back the beauty curtain a few weeks ago when she posted a photo of herself to Instagram that showed bruises and stretch marks:

"Bruises from bumping kitchen drawer handles for a week. Stretchies say hi!"

 on

The response from Teigen's 2.1 million Instagram followers has been overwhelmingly positive:

Chrissy Teigen comments
During a recent appearance on
"The Meredith Vieira Show," Teigen explained why she chose not to alter the "imperfect" images.
"

I actually am working on a cookbook and I was bumping around in the kitchen and the door handle would just nick me every single time. And I was actually just taking a picture of the bruises and then I saw the stretch marks in there. I have those apps, the Facetune and Photoshopping ones, and I just didn't feel like doing it anymore—and I'm never doing it again, because I think we forgot what normal people look like now."

Chrissy Teigen"I mean, people are nip-tucking [their photos]," Teigen continued. "It's gotten to the point where they're not smoothing their skin anymore, they are actually changing the shape of their body and everybody else. Nobody can compare to that when you're fixing yourself so much."

"It's so unfair," she added. "It started with Botox and everything, of course, but now it's just grown into this Photoshop phenomenon and I've seen these women in person, they are not like that. Please know that. I've shot in barely anything [i.e. half-naked] with them and it's just amazing what people do to tweak themselves."

In a recent interview with New York Magazine, Teigen drove home the point that modeling is smoke and mirrors, even when it comes to the world's most beautiful women:

Things are never, ever as they seem. Even on television I am full of fake hair and covered in body makeup head-to-toe. Those full lashes have been applied meticulously one by one, my teeth have spent more hours in a dentist chair than I ever imagined. We have a team of people whose sole job is to make people appear close-to-perfect. And oh, the retouching. My bathroom mirror on any normal day would laugh hysterically if you told it I was flawless in any way! And that is fine with me.

Teigen is often honest about her image, posting revealing before and after photos to her Instagram:

Supermodel Chrissy Teigen has the easiest hack for softening butter

$

Chrissy Tiegen

Fans of supermodel Chrissy Teigen know that she loves to cook — she's even coming out with her very own cookbook soon.

She’s also taken her talents to the new talk show FABLife where she will be the show’s culinary expert.

One of the tricks she learned for the show was how to soften butter in under five minutes. She shared the easy tip with her 3.2 million Instagram followers:

Learned this little trick on @fablifeshow! How to soften, not melt, ya buttah

A video posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on Sep 12, 2015 at 1:47pm PDT on

The trick will be a welcome one for bakers who are often called to use “softened” butter in recipes, but who may forget to take the butter out of the fridge or freezer.

Some newbie bakers might then microwave the butter, but melted butter can make cake dense and cookies spread in the oven. The internet is filled with tricks on how to soften the butter without melting it — from using a rolling pin to cutting it into pieces— but most of these tips are pretty involved and take time and effort better spent elsewhere.

Teigen’s trick on the other hand is really easy. First, she filled a microwavable liquid measuring cup with water and then microwaved on high for two minutes.

She carefully dumped out the hot water and placed the measuring container upside down over the stick of butter.

Teigen then simply let it sit until butter had reached her desired consistency and temperature.

There’s virtually no clean up or extra work involved.

Now go make some cookies.

Chrissy teigen john legend

Supermodel Chrissy Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend, are expecting a baby. The news comes after Teigen publicly revealed in September that she had spent years struggling to get pregnant.

Teigen and Legend got married two years ago, but Teigen told fellow supermodel Tyra Banks she would have had kids five or six years ago if it had happened naturally.

"John and I were having trouble,"Teigen said on the daytime talk show "FABLife.""We would have had kids five, six years ago if it had happened, but my gosh, it's been a process. We've seen fertility doctors."

Teigen also said she had been bombarded with insensitive questions about why she hadn't started a family yet.

"The questions just come from all over, and it's kind of crazy because I can't imagine being that nosy to be like, 'So, When are the kids coming?'" Teigen said. "Because who knows what someone's going through? ... Stop asking me!"

Up to 11% of American adults struggle with fertility. Teigen's "FABLife" cohost Banks also said she had struggled with it. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who is also expecting a child, recently wrote that he and his wife had suffered three miscarriages.

Now, it's finally OK to ask Teigen and Legend about their future family. Teigen posted a photo of a tiny baby bump on Instagram on Monday evening:

"John and I are so happy to announce that we are pregnant :)" she wrote.

"As many of you know, we've been trying to have a baby for a while now. It hasn't been easy, but we kept trying because we can't wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family. We're so excited that it's finally happening. Thank you for all your love and well wishes. I look forward to all the belly touching! Xx"

Here's the happy expecting couple:

Now watch:

Stop asking your friends when they're going to have kids. As Mark Zuckerberg, Tyra Banks, and Chrissy Teigen have all recently discussed — you have NO idea what's going on with couples in terms of health issues.

Musician John Legend and his stunning supermodel wife Chrissy Teigen are celebrating the new year in style — in a new house.

The two are real estate mavens, but it looks like this one might be a keeper.

Last year, the couple listed their small 1-bedroom in NYC.

With Teigen pregnant with the couple’s first child, the 5 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms of this new house could soon be filled.

The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac in Beverly Hills, a perfect family-friendly location.

While there isn’t quite an acre of land, there’s plenty to do indoors. A state-of-the-art theater room, nine flat screen TVs, a billiard and party room, and, of course, a professional gym — what more could you need?

living_room

The new parents will be able to relax post-baby in the master suite without lifting a finger. There’s an oversized steam-sauna-shower, an infinity soaking tub to take in the California sunsets, a closet room that features marble detailing and shelves galore for shoes, a fireplace, office, two private balconies, and even an entertaining area for private lip sync battles.

Completely remodeled with a modern-glamour aesthetic, the home is easily Instagram-able for Teigen. A sleek exterior features large expanses of glass that offer stunning views from the inside.

No one would ever know the home had its issues when Rihanna was its occupant. She filed a lawsuit against those involved in the sale, and quietly unloaded it as a short-sale for a loss at $5 million.

Legend and Teigen paid $14 million. All of drama seems to have subsided, and the home is in superstar shape for the new year and the new family.

I traded in my book club for a 'cookbook club' and I wish I had done it sooner

$

cookbook club

When my editor asked me to try a cookbook club, I was wary. While I'm a huge fan of book clubs and reading in general, I am not — despite what my author page would have you believe — the best cook.

But Gwyneth Paltrow's website Goop has a cookbook club. Williams-Sonoma has a cookbook club. Everywhere I looked, it appeared people were getting in on this trend that married the social and educational aspect of a book club with the joy of eating.

So I gave it a shot — and I loved it.

cookbook club

For those unaware, a cookbook club is basically a book club, but instead of reading the same book and discussing it, everyone in the group makes recipes from the same cookbook and brings the final products to the meeting, potluck-style.

While I understood the concept, I was still skeptical that I could convince my friends, with their tiny New York City kitchens, to join me on this culinary adventure.

I was wrong to be worried. After a panicked email reminding them that they like me and that it was for my job, I received immediate responses. "Shockingly, I'm super into this," one friend wrote back. Everyone I emailed was, astoundingly, game.

The biggest issue that emerged as the email thread progressed was that no one could agree on a cookbook. While options from the 2 Chainz cookbook "#Meal Time: 2 Chainz Tour Bus Recipes" (sadly no longer in print, but available in its glory online here) and Jacque Pepin's "La Technique" were thrown out as suggestions, we eventually settled on the new Chrissy Tiegen cookbook "Cravings" that was getting a lot of play on Instagram and in the press.

Cooking out of Cravings this fine Friday evening!! Cheesy jalapeño tuna casserole with potato chip topping. #classyladyrecipe

A photo posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on Mar 4, 2016 at 4:58pm PST on

Once we decided on our cookbook, we all earmarked our recipes, from appetizers to entrees, and got to work. A few Sundays later, we were ready to meet up and try our haul.

I was seriously impressed. Nearly everyone brought a dish to the party and everything looked tasty. When I arrived, there were still a few stragglers finishing up their recipes, but luckily the hosts’ apartment and kitchen were big enough to accommodate the final touches for the roasted jalapeño queso while the prosciutto-wrapped and cheese-stuffed chicken and my mac and cheese warmed in the oven.

cookbook club

As we waited for the food, we drank, took pictures of each other’s dishes, and talked about the success of each recipe. Was it easy? Was it a challenge? How long did it take? Some of the recipes we found took a staggering amount of time — like the french toast casserole with salted frosted flakes which required over seven hours to prepare — while others turned out exactly like the pictures in Teigen’s own cookbook.

Finally, it was time to dig in. And man oh man, did Teigen (and our cookbook club) deliver.

cookbook club

On the whole, the entire night was hailed as a rousing success. All the recipes were good if not great — from the spicy Italian sausage meatloaf to the potato salad — and everyone felt included (and sated) by the end.

I was also surprised that we actually spent a fair amount of time discussing the dishes and the pros and cons of the cookbook itself. It was much like a regular book club. One member even proclaimed that she needed to buy her own copy of the book instead of borrowing one so she could make everything in it.

cookbook club

While I loved how our cookbook club turned out and hope to do it again, I did learn a few things about the experience. For anyone who wants to try a cookbook club for themselves, these are the biggest dos and don’ts:

  • DON’T double the recipes. Our group had so much food, it was ridiculous. And one of us even halved the recipe to begin with. Even though this will vary from cookbook to cookbook, you likely won’t need to double the recipe if everyone brings one dish.
  • DO bring tupperware. We had a lot of leftovers we ended up carting home. I wish I had brought my own containers so I could have stoc piled on the meatloaf and queso in particular.
  • DO try everything, if you can. Even though there a lot of  food, everyone tried to have a little bite of everything. Not only was it supportive to comment on everyone’s dishes since they had all worked for hours on preparing the food, but it also let us see a wider range of what the cookbook had to offer.
  • DON’T make all entrees. Space out the types of food you make, from appetizers to desserts, to get a wide variety at the table.
  • DO be mindful of your group’s eating habits and dietary restrictions. While we didn’t have much trouble on this front, it would be nice to make at least a handful of dishes your vegetarian friend or someone prone to food allergies can try, too.
  • DON’T be afraid to try something new. While I loved all the recipes everyone brought to the cookbook club, I wish one of us had tried a recipe from Teigen’s Thai classics section. Perhaps next time we’ll try a more international cookbook.

Now go forth and cook(book).

We caught up with Teigen at the Chase Sapphire Reserve event in New York City where she shared her go-to travel outfit and her favorite luggage. The new mom also let us in on another secret: what it’s like to travel with her baby daughter and the tips she’s picked up along the way.

On her most recent trip with Luna

“I just tried to travel with her [Luna] for fashion week. And I just thought everything could be solved with a bottle — that’s how it was with her before. But I tried absolutely everything, I think we were bouncing around for maybe 5.5 hours. Passing from flight attendant to flight attendant.”

On how it feels to travel for the first time with a newborn

“It’s so funny because you think you have it down. I’ve been traveling long enough to know that you feel for those people when they walk in with a newborn, but you also give ‘the eye,’ of course. And then to become that person is very odd.”

On what she has learned while traveling with a baby

“I think the less you freak out the better. My problem is that her cries [make me] go into anxiety mode. I worry about other people so much, so I need to think more about her and how I can comfort her rather than worry about everyone around me because worrying about everybody around me isn’t helping her calm down.”

Her best advice to new moms

“My best advice is to just block everything out. Don’t be embarrassed, it happens to everybody and just give [your baby] some love.”
